a Manager of Transportation Engineering Planni ng to their Transportation Group. This is a new role within Stewart and will be responsible for leading the planning team, managing transportation planners, direct client coordination, and planning schedule management and oversight. They will produce consistent and high-quality planning services and documents on state and municipal projects.Manager of Transportation Engineering PlanningHybrid Schedu le: Stewart also offers a 4/9 schedule with ½ days on Friday.Essential functions of the Manager of Transportation Engineering PlanningProvide leadership and direction, set schedules for assigned projects and assign planning tasks to Planning Team.Monitor project schedule adherence and team responsibilities. Complete work on time and within budget.Responsible for preparation and completion of planning tasks that are responsive to project needs including the production of planning documents, surveys, reports, and the facilitation of public meetings and steering committee meetings.Schedule and conduct field observations and data collection activities.Develop project strategy for each project that identifies milestones, appropriate planning techniques to be applied, stakeholders, schedule, and overall project objectives.Analyze technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.Manage projects by coordinating with the client, directing the planning process, and coordinating the project team, which may include other disciplines.Coordinate with clients to define work programs and budgets, provide leadership in project planning and strategy including general oversight and planning, project management, project implementation, and ensuring quality of work products.Complete work accurately and in accordance with good planning codes and practice.Multi-task and communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks.Secure and manage successful, profitable projects.Participate in industry organizations.Competencies & Experience of the Manager of Transportation Engineering Planning:Knowledge of transportation engineering concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, and engineer facilities such as highways, streets, bridges, and multi-modal facilitiesKnowledge of local, state, and federals laws, regulations, and professional standards related to transportation.Understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures.REQUIRED (MINIMUM) QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in planning or related field.10+ years of experience in transportation planning.Experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.GIS software experience, required.NEPA/SEPA experience, required.American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP) credentials or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), required.Valid Driver's LicenseNICE TO HAVE:Leadership experience, preferred.NCDOT experience, preferred.
