Position Summary
Located in Chicago, Roosevelt University (RU) is a comprehensive, private, four-year university offering more than 70 undergraduate degree programs and more than 50 graduate programs in the areas of arts and sciences; health and pharmacy; business; education; and performing arts. Founded in 1945 as an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational institution of higher learning, RU’s founders were determined to make higher education available to all students who could qualify academically. RU was awarded a five-year grant from the Department of Education through its Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) Program. RU’s initiative, “Navegando Hacia el Éxito” (NHE), “Navigating Toward Success,” is designed to increase Hispanic and low-income graduate student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation through the development and implementation of curriculum, student supports, faculty professional development, and additional institutional improvements.
The Project Director of NHE is responsible for the implementation, management, reporting and close-out of the PPOHA grant. The Director will design, implement, supervise, and monitor program activities and outcomes in accordance with federal regulations and program objectives. The Director will also serve as fiscal manager for program budgets, including budget planning, expenditures, budget revisions, and financial and programmatic reporting in consultation with the Principal Investigator, Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Success.
Proper project management will include adherence to federal and institutional policies, open communication among constituents, evaluators, and the Department of Education, monitoring of progress toward objectives, aligning objectives with university priorities and goals, effective and efficient administration of the project, sufficient oversight of the project, and integration of evaluation activities into project planning; and fiscal responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
The Project Director (PD) will have an advanced degree in social science, higher education, or a related area (MA/MS required, doctoral degree preferred).
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in large scale program development, implementation, and management in higher education, including two years of supervisory experience.
Advising experience and be knowledgeable of the needs of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the characteristics and academic needs of the target populations.
At least two years’ experience working with Hispanic and low-income students in higher education.
Knowledge of program development and administration as well as knowledge of program evaluation, report writing, budget development and monitoring, and grant writing.
Excellent skills of time management, collaboration, organization, and written and oral communication.

Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds).
