Position Overview
The Illinois State Police is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant II. Under administrative direction of the Chief of Staff for the Division of Criminal Investigation, serves as administrative support, coordinating/managing various projects or assignments, some of which are sensitive and/or controversial in nature; attends meetings with or on behalf of the Chief of Staff; reviews technical reports to identify problems or trends; maintains relations with command personnel in the zones/bureaus in order to coordinate and finalize special projects and assignments as well as routine staffing matters. Serves as liaison with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as upper management staff at ISP.

Essential Functions
Under administrative direction of the Chief of Staff, coordinates and manages various projects or assignments, some of which are sensitive and/or controversial in nature.Serves as a liaison with managerial staff within the Department as well as with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.Independently prepares correspondence for the Chief of Staff regarding sworn personnel transactions.Attends meetings with or on behalf of Chief of Staff to keep abreast of current programs, policies, assignments of District/Zone Commanders and events involving the Department and other governmental agencies.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefers a minimum of two years experience of office practices and procedures and programs.Prefers a minimum of two years experience of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.Prefers a minimum of two years experience in the logic of computer programs.Prefers one year of experience instructing, guiding and training others.
