01/05/2025Job Summary:This is a full-time position in a Pediatric General Surgery clinic. We have two locations – Primary Children’s Hospital- SLC (main campus) and Primary Children’s Hospital-Lehi. If hired, you would be required to work at both locations, with one location being the primary location.This position duties include answering phones, making clinic appointments, reviewing schedules, faxing, taking copayments and scanning medical records into the patient’s chart. There are times when you may integrate Medical Assistant skills such as taking vitals, rooming patients, entering patient information into Medical Record charts and assisting surgeons as needed with patients from time to time. Training will be provided.The Pediatric General Surgery clinic is a high pace, busy clinic that sees a variety of patients which requires attention to detail, triaging, staying calm to assist parents over the phone and in person and evaluate the urgency of the need to give exceptional patient care.Responsibilities:Performs as the principal Outpatient Service Specialist in the clinic by answering all incoming calls, schedules appointments, checks patients in and out, handles the work queues.Review faxes to ensure all orders are properly distributed to nurses and providers.Reviews clinics ahead of time to ensure all orders and imaging are properly scheduled prior to the patient’s visits.Coordinates referrals.Completes patient registration, assists patients with co-pays and account balances, and reconciles daily cash reports.Attends and completes mandatory trainings including infection control safety, according to the hospital and department policies.Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to a licensed staff member.Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, locating and compiling department charts, obtaining medical records from other providers, and entering charges for billing purposes.May perform other duties based on department assigned.May assist patient and family education by providing educational material and general health information using the Electronic Medical Record.Provides complex administrative support to a busy Pediatric Surgery practice with 12 surgeons practicing at 4 locations. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (telecommuting & in-office).Minimum Qualifications:One year of office experience, customer service experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).Current, valid Utah driver’s license at time of hire may be required in some areas.This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
