QTEC Aerospace is seeking multiple SOFTWARE ENGINEERS to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidates will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. The successful candidates will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidates will function as integral members of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

Responsible for software development in Java.

Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products.

Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.

Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.

Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system.

Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for operations automation.

Works on most phases of software systems programming applications.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field from an accredited college with at least 9 years of experience or a master's degree with at least 7 years of experience. For non-computer science majors, a comp-sci minor is preferred.

Minimum DOD 8570 IAT II certification required within 60 days of start.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Software engineering and software development with strong Java/J2EE experience.

Experience and knowledge of software practices such as coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management.

Experience developing enterprise applications on Linux.

Extensive experience with Java foundation classes and toolkits.

Small team leadership experience.

Proven ability/experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.

Knowledge of server-side/database development and computer system administration.

Strong problem-solving skills include reviewing performance and operational issues, identifying root causes, and recommending, designing, and implementing solutions.

Using common software development and management tools such as Maven, Git/Github, Nexus, and Eclipse.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed.

Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a fast-paced, team environment.

Experience developing enterprise applications on Windows.

Agile team leadership experience.

Net-centric, horizontal integration program expertise.

Command and control system application development experience.

Experience with Software Integration and formal testing.

Knowledge and experience implementing Cyber Security/RMF requirements.

Ability to present advanced concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program and military leaders.

Designing and building user interfaces.

Experience with performance modeling.

Experience with microservices.

Experience with DevSecOps and/or build management.

Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.

Good working knowledge of MS Office products.

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
