About the role:The Firewall Infrastructure Operations Engineer, under the general direction from the Firewall Infrastructure Operations Manager, will assist in the day-to-day tasks critical to the team's success. This individual will be responsible for attending project meetings when necessary and assist in gathering and documenting infrastructure and security requirements. This individual will also become familiar with all compliance, regulatory and security requirements adhering to all corporate policies and standards. This person needs to be experienced in technology with good planning and coordination skills. An energetic, solution-minded personality with drive, keen attention to details and excellent communication skills will be needed for success in this position.In this role, you will:Collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the artifacts as needed.Must have high attention to detail, be well organized and be a self-starter.Must be able to work with limited to moderate direct supervision.Uses a broad and deep understanding of technical concepts in multiple specialized fields to develop solutions to problems and critical design issues.Works independently.Resolves most conflicts between timeline, budget, and scope independently but intuitively.Escalates complex or consequential issues to management.Identifies and directs changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms.Understands and promotes the GM Financial policy on Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) to ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the GM Financial business and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion.Qualifications
What makes you a dream candidate?Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply this to day-to-day work activities.Knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems as well as knowledge of key business functions and processes.Knowledge and understanding of Firewall, IPS, Proxy, SSL, VPN and DDOS technologies.Advanced troubleshooting and networking knowledge also preferred.Experience in dealing with multiple business units and diverse employee population.Exposure to ITIL Change Management principles and methodologies.Working knowledge of various ServiceNow components such as Ticket request, Change Management, Incident Management, and CMDB.Strong people skills including the ability to interact with employees at all levels.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong in the use of Microsoft Office software including strong ability to analyze data using Excel for reporting and data mining purposes.Excellent analytical and attention to detail skills.Experience with Virtual Cloud Networking, VM ware and/or Physical firewall devices.Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent required.Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience preferred.2-4 years of experience with firewall operations required.3-5 years of relevant IT experience preferred.What We Offer:
