This role provides oversight, guidance, and leadership for university collaboration with military-affiliated organizations. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Military Affairs will play a leadership role in identifying and winning contract opportunities through which FSU faculty and staff are able to leverage areas of deep expertise to assist partner organizations in meeting their professional training, research, and workforce development needs.Prospective collaboration initiatives include:

Non-credit and for-credit training contracts delivered through the Center for Defense and Homeland Security (CDHS), Center for Enterprise Resource Planning and Advanced Analytics (CERPAA), or other University units;Applied research contracts;Student Internship and employment opportunities.Other areas of responsibility for the AVC for Military Affairs will include:Provide staff support to the Board of Trustees Special Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.Develop strategic partnerships with external organizations (government, corporate, non-profit, etc.) to position FSU as a national HBCU leader in military-affiliated student enrollment and outcomes.Lead the development of strategies, programs, and policies to enhance FSU's efforts to recruit, enroll, retain, and graduate military-affiliated students, and aid their transition to the workforce.Facilitate convenings of institution representatives to discuss issues unique to military-affiliated students. Identify key barriers and potential pathways to success for military-affiliated students.Maintain awareness of the university, state, and federal-level policies and legislation impacting military-affiliated students.Interface regularly with campus personnel, DOD partners, and military installations in North Carolina and serve as the FSU military representative to the Sandhills region, the Governor's Working Group for veterans, and other local, state, and national organizations.Description of Work Continued:

Strong leadership, interpersonal, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in student and academic affairs, strategic enrollment management, and the ability to effectively support a strategic enrollment management plan.Knowledge of military culture and non-traditional college student development and sensitivity to student needs.Knowledge of the unique needs of underserved and first-generation students.Knowledge of academic advising, career services, first-year experience programs, parent programs, multicultural affairs programs, and veteran and military affairs programs.Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, students, and parents.Skill in developing and managing budgets.Skill in personnel management and ability to apply state and university human resources policies.Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex problems.Represent Fayetteville State University to a variety of constituents.Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:

Graduate degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution.Experience in the U.S. Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.Five years of progressively responsible leadership in the administration of higher education at a four-year college or university.Experience in overseeing programs geared toward retaining college students.Five years of experience supervising multiple units and staff.Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
