Flat RatePrimary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The Office of Student Engagement/Student Center is a department within the Division of Student Affairs. The mission of the department is to provide cultural, social, recreational, and educational programs that enhance the overall educational development of students and promote programs that improve the campus culture. The department is also responsible for coordination of the student organization recognition process, student organization leadership development, and administrative advising of select student organizations including the Student Government Association and Student Activities Council.Primary Purpose of Position:The Associate Director provides leadership in the management of the Office of Student Engagement. Employee conceptualizes, implements, and continually improves policies and procedures, develops a comprehensive slate of programs and activities, and identifies new technology to enhance the Fayetteville State University student experience. The Associate Director develops a comprehensive slate of programs and activities, helps supervise several full-time and student staff members, manages a portion of the Student Engagement budget, and actively participates in Office of Student Engagement strategic planning.Description of Work Continued:Administrative & Assessment:• Conducts research and makes recommendations to the Director of Student Engagement on methods to increase student satisfaction and participation; develops, submits for approval, and implements goals and action plans for the Office of Student Engagement.• Designs methods of evaluating programs and activities to increase the number of student participants. Secures information for use by the Director of Student Engagement for reports and recommendations for expansion of programs and services. Serves as a member of department-wide committees, including strategic planning, marketing, budgeting, financial management, and contract management.• Performs general office duties; maintains the petty cash and change fund assigned to the Office of Student Engagement and conducts monthly audits to ensure proper postings of revenue and charges.Organizing & Directing:• Co-advises one or more of the student-governed organizations by monitoring the organization’s budget and expenditures, providing programming support, advisement, and counsel; supervises professional service contracts according to established university guidelines.• Researches, analyzes, and develops policies and procedures for campus programs and activities sponsored by campus clubs and organizations.• Oversees and supports the implementation of special events, programs, and activities sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement to include Welcome Week, Homecoming, Rodeo, Mr. FSU Competition, and the Miss FSU Pageant.Supervision:• Supervises office student workers and work-study students.• Acts in the absence of the Director of Student Engagement; assists the Director in overseeing daily operations and functions of the Office of Student Engagement.Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:A Master’s degree in Educational Administration, College Student Personnel, Sociology, or other related field is required. At least 3-5 years of administrative experience in student activities/engagement or student union at the college level or an equivalent combination of experience and training.Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:• Five years of successful experience in a University Student Center/Union or Student Engagement office.• Demonstrated experience in program development for diverse populations.• Excellent oral and written communication skills.Special Instructions To Applicants:Please ensure that the work history listed on your application matches the work history listed on your resume.
