is seeking a

Power System Software Engineer

to join our growing Grid Software team in Chandler, Arizona. The Grid Software team provides best-in-class energy enterprise software products including iHedge, Grid360 and Modelex for utilities, Independent System Operators, grid operators and energy resource companies for optimizing electric grid network. As a Power System Software Engineer with Resource Innovations, you will participate in the development and technical support of the software solutions for power grid optimization applications such as security constrained optimal power flow, state estimation, fault analysis and financial transmission rights analytics such as auction clearing calculations. Areas of responsibility include testing software, correcting defects, development of enhancements and performing studies in support of consulting services for the customers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnderstand the calculation logic and requirements and create technical designs.Develop applications and interfaces using advanced programming languages and utilizing modern development tools.Develop and execute unit tests to ensure software quality.Utilize version control systems like Git to manage code repositories and contribute to deployment processes and automation ensuring smooth and reliable software releases.Create technical documentation including code comments, user guides and API documentation.Provide day-to-day technical support and be responsible for the operational support of the analytical engines and associated applications for the customers.Perform problem resolution including root cause analysis and interact with the customers as necessary.Work as part of a team which includes in-house software engineers and QA engineers on the day-to-day execution of quality assurance efforts to meet committed delivery dates.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsA master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study with power systems option and emphasis on optimization, economics and/or electric energy markets; a master's degree is preferred.3+ years of experience in development and technical support of software solutions.Understanding of steady-state power system analysis.Understanding of linear and quadratic programming applied to steady-state power system models.Computer skills including Microsoft Office, text editors, compilers and software debuggers or comparable development environments.Working knowledge of FORTRAN, C/C++, Python.Designing, coding, testing and debugging software enhancements and modifications.Willingness to learn and operate in a strong team environment.Ability to work within schedules and deadlines.Internal and external client support.Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.Preferred skills, education and experiencePhD in Electrical Engineering.Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal).About Resource InnovationsResource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on candidate's qualifications.
