JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager - Accounting is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Senior Manager - Accounting will have contact with the CFO and Controller, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparationParticipate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changesContinued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practicesParticipate in strategic financial projects including upgrades and implementation of ERP softwareEnsure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environmentCollaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and complianceInteracts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual reportResponsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactionsAnalyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesMake recommendations for changes as needed, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed, and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraudPrepare detailed journal entries and account analysesAssist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returnsWork with Audit, Tax, and Treasury Manager to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities through annual reportPrepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budgetActively review and advise on financial and accounting processesDevelop and communicate cash flow projectionsSupervise team of Accountants and Senior Accountants to ensure they're motivated and provided proper support to meet their job duties and responsibilitiesEnsure general accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.Actively manages AP team with day-to-day collaboration with the Revenue/Billing teamsTracks financial status by monitoring variances from budget.Perform and review monthly account reconciliation for related balance sheet accounts with detailed support schedules. Take appropriate action to clear the reconciling items.Lead month-end close process and preparation of internal financial statements. Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.Manage Fixed Asset with annual budgetLead preparation and coordination for external auditors and tax request.Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.Continued focus on improving accounting processes.Perform ad hoc projects as necessaryEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in AccountingMinimum 8 to 10 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years of supervisory or management experience (preferably a combination of public and industry accounting)Must have experience using Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards or related enterprise system in a professional capacityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of internal controls, best practices, and the ability to research and document accounting and financial topics requiredAnalytical skills, displaying an ability to gather, relate and compare data, and ensure data is reliable, accurate and completeDetail orientation to ensure related tasks are completed timely and accuratelyThorough understanding of accounting procedures &GAAPAbility to manage confidential informationFinancial closing, consolidations, reporting, planning and project management experience preferred.Position may require extended hours and work on weekends or holidays.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
