The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of survey design, data collection, analysis, and reporting, with a particular focus on understanding the unique challenges faced by American Indian communities in tobacco control.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of survey design, data collection, analysis, and reporting, with a particular focus on understanding the unique challenges faced by American Indian communities in tobacco control.
Division/ Department Overview:
The Commission of Indian Affairs is an advocacy agency housed within the NC Department of Administration. The Commission works to implement or sustain programs that provide aid and protection for American Indians, assist American Indian communities in social and economic development, and promote unity among all American Indians. In carrying out its mandate (N.C. G.S. 143B-406) and objectives, the NC Commission of Indian Affairs (NCCIA) operates a range of programs tailored to the needs of the American Indian communities in North Carolina. One of these initiatives is the Adult Tobacco Survey Program, which collects data on tobacco use, including traditional and cultural tobacco practices, vaping habits, and other tobacco-related behaviors. This comprehensive survey will gather insights from all American Indian communities across North Carolina, providing a valuable data set for American Indian health initiatives. The collected data will be used in collaboration with Wake Forest Medical Center and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to advance cancer research, address youth tobacco and vaping use, and develop tailored public health programs. The program's results are intended to support evidence-based approaches for improving health outcomes specific to American Indian communities in the state.

Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, as well as SharePoint and Drupal.Experience or Knowledge in Database application such as Access, BearTracks program or Grantee Performance Management System.Experience interacting with tribal governments and local American Indian Programs such as Indian Education Public Schools programs or another American Indian program.Skill in providing case management and coordination of client services.Ability to apply the provisions of federal and state workforce development laws, rules, regulations, and procedures to specific cases.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.Ability to organize and assist in the conduct of public meetings and conferences.Ability to speak effectively in public and to express ideas clearly in writing.Ability to analyze situations accurately and to recommend or initiate an effective course of action.Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with tribal governments, local agency representatives, community organizations, and the general public.Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate information and conflicting opinions (problem solving skills) to resolve problems and questions.NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
