Job Summary: The Athletics Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the organization, execution, and oversight of youth and adult athletic programs. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain a positive and professional image of the Lombard Park District.
Qualifications: Pursuing a job in recreation, physical education, sports management or related is preferred or an equivalent of training and experience related to the position. Certification in nationally recognized CPR and Safety instruction ( can be obtained through the Lombard Park District).

General Administration
Present a positive attitude and always promote a favorable image for the Lombard Park District. Effectively maintain the timeliness of coaches, referees, and staff on both practice and game days. Provide coaches, referees, and staff with proper equipment and updates on time. Assists the Program Managers - Athletics with organizing and conducting coach and parent meetings for athletic programming. Assists the Program Managers - Athletics with preparing program information for distribution prior to the start of the season. Learn and understand the league rules and expected behavior of self, staff, players, and parents. Perform necessary administration duties for the youth and adult leagues: updates, rosters, staff scheduling, and league site management. Assists Program Managers - Athletics with determining league structures (based on program assignment) and/or placement of teams into appropriate divisions. Assists Program Managers - Athletics with creation of league schedules and maintains online league standings. Set up/prepare the athletic field/court for practice/games, as well as remove equipment at the end of each practice/game. Potential to lead/teach youth sports classes or programs for a variety of sports on a substitute basis. Foster open communication with parents through on-site availability as a liaison for the Park District. Must be in compliance with the loss prevention and safety policies of the Park District. Maintain regular weekly communication with immediate supervisor and keep them up to date on all activities, issues, equipment, and financial matters. Promote and maintain safety practices of the field and equipment at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. B. Safety, Health, and Loss Control
Become familiar with Employee Safety/Staff Manuals. Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary to accomplish required tasks. Assist the Program Manager in providing all injury, and illness, information required by Lombard Park District in its effort to assign tasks within an individual's capacity to prevent potential injury or illness. Assist the Program Manager with notification of injury/illness relating to a task assigned as described in the Employee Safety Manual. Marginal Functions
Promote athletics registration through the distribution of promotional material and word-of-mouth marketing. Keep the facilities clean and all equipment in proper working order. Be aware of league rules and regulations and make sure coaches, staff, referees, and umpires abide by them. Regularly inventory supplies and make recommendations on orders to the immediate supervisor. Perform other program-related duties as assigned by the Program Managers - Athletics. Assist or serve as an instructor/staff for other recreation and athletics programs when scheduled. Assist Program Managers - Athletics with creating and implementing a curriculum/plan for clinics/leagues. Psychological Considerations
Resolve differences and problems that arise with patrons and employees. Be able to respond quickly and accurately to different situations. Physiological Considerations
Must be able to bend, stoop, lift items, weighing up to 50 pounds, turn sit and stand for short or extended periods. Able to lift tables and scoreboard set-up. Environmental Considerations
May be exposed to elements during outdoor activities: including extreme heat and cold, snow, rain, ice, day and night conditions, and high levels of pollen. He/she is exposed to varying levels of humidity, temperature, and light when working indoors Requirements
This is a part-time, year-round position. Wednesdays-Sundays; afternoons and evenings, varying times based on league schedules. Leagues are typically scheduled year-round with occasional gaps, with clinics and camps offered in the summer and all year round. Additional hours may include day or night shifts for the program or other athletic duties assigned. The program manager-athletics will agree upon these hours.
