Summary:
The Applications Engineer is responsible for concepting manufacturing processes and analyzing data to assess the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture complete BIW tooling systems.
Essential Functions:Prepare quotes for customer systems based on the supplied process released from engineeringPrepare cycle time analysis, conceptual drawings, sequence of operations, and technical descriptions of machine stations and major system componentsSet estimated margins on all quoted jobsEstimates costs of new equipment or capital investment necessary for productionCollaborate with project management to negotiate changes and costs on projects, negotiates these changes with customers, when requiredReview sketches, engineering data and other RFQ information to determine the items to be quotedRecommend process improvements for estimating and implement new procedures where neededWillingness to assist within other areas of the company regarding component quoting and line processingOther functions as assigned by ManagementSkills/Abilities:
Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)Experience in Processing a plus.Experience with AutoCAD a plus.Experience quoting entire BIW tooling assemblies preferred.Qualifications:
Required minimum 4 years' experience in cost estimating or process engineeringRequired minimum 2 years' experience within relevant industryKnowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to interpret engineering layouts and dataStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze financial data to estimate costsStrong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectivelyAbility to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervisionWilling to travel locally and long-distance to customer sites to do field checks; if necessaryWork Conditions:
Must be able to work in a professional office environment as well as a manufacturing environmentMay be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and occasionally chemical fumesThe noise level within the manufacturing floor may be faint to moderate, and occasionally loudEyewear is mandatory while in the manufacturing areaSafety shoes such as hard soled shoes are to be worn in the manufacturing areaMust be able to work overtime when required as job permitsPhysical Demands:
Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time if necessaryMust be able to bend and lift objects up to 35 pounds if required
