Summary
The Deputy Editor-in-Chief is responsible for assisting the Editor-in-Chief in running the newspaper. Normal responsibilities including assisting in planning story assignments and layouts, assisting writers in the completion of their articles, writing articles and recruitment.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Oversees and assists with the overall writing of the paperMeets weekly with section editors to discuss progress of the paperAttends weekly general staff meetingsMaintains weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office. (6 hours per week)Meets and works with Section correspondents in generating story ideasTrains Section correspondents on InDesign and PhotoshopWill upload final PDF copy of the paper to Park Press' FTP if Editor in Chief is unable toMeets weekly with Xavierite webmasters to ensure that website has up to date information.Meets weekly with Assistant Director of Campus Life: Student Media to discuss progress on the paperWrites one article per issue
Qualifications
- MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
- FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIRED
Experience in journalism, communication, or English preferred.
