Summary

News Reporter(s) are responsible for particular beats that are assigned to them by the News Editor, and writing news stories based around those beats, which will be published. The News Reporter(s) are responsible for producing one to two news stories for every issue of The Xavierite.Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Reports on all SXU and local area news eventsProduces one-two articles per weekWrites stories following the pyramid news writing styleEnsures all articles are written accurately, fairly, and with as little biased as possible following journalist standards and ethics.Is a leading member of the Student Media Street TeamAttends general staff meetingMeets weekly with Section EditorMaintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (4 hours per week).Attends news writing workshop held by Director of Student MediaAssists with the layout of the section

Qualifications

- MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY

- FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIRED FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIRED

Experience in journalism, communication, or English preferred.Additional Expectations
