Job Summary
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), guiding self-organizing and self-managing teams to optimize the flow of value. This role involves facilitating ART events and processes, managing risks, and promoting continuous improvement in alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
•Facilitate Agile Release Train processes and execution, escalating impediments, managing risk, and ensuring value delivery.
•Create a collaborative and safe environment, valuing diverse feedback and encouraging empowerment.
•Ensure team alignment with organizational strategies, setting clear priorities and accountability metrics.
•Monitor and report on key progress metrics, escalating impediments as necessary.
•Support improvement and preparation efforts, communicating impact on individuals and teams.
•Provide guidance on best practices, development resources, and opportunities for experimentation.
•Optimize the flow of value using tools like Program and Solution Kanbans.
•Establish and communicate Iteration and Program Increment (PI) calendars.
•Foster Continuous Exploration processes and facilitate PI Planning, including pre- and post-planning sessions.
•Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices, providing additional training as needed.
•Align strategy and execution between Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and stakeholders.
•Manage resources, facilitate collaboration, and ensure adherence to Lean Budgets and Guardrails.
•Perform additional duties as assigned, following company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
•Advanced knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban techniques, with a servant leadership approach.
•Expertise in product development cycles and portfolio management techniques.
•Strong understanding of information systems, interlinkages, operations, and strategic business principles.
•Demonstrated ability in leading multiple PI Planning sessions and facilitating collaboration through influence.
•Excellent communication and people skills, respecting diverse perspectives.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Azure DevOps and visual platforms like Miro or IdeaBoardz.
Preferred Qualifications
•Thorough knowledge of the client's organizational mission, vision, and strategic direction.
Certifications
•SAFe 5.0 Release Train Engineer (RTE) Certification - required within 90 days.
•SAFe 5.0 SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Certification - preferred.
