As an Avionics Design Engineer at Astrolab, you'll take full ownership of harness design, guiding it from initial concept and component selection through production, qualification, and integration within our rovers. This multidisciplinary role offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to shape the overall architecture and functionality of the next generation of planetary exploration vehicles.

What you'll do:Develop the electro-mechanical design of wire harnesses within our family of planetary roversCreate harness design solutions within a 3D NX CAD environment, managing technical trade studies to meet stakeholder objectives and adhere to internal design standards and requirementsGenerate electrical schematics to support both flight and qualification designsOwn vehicle-level harnessing mechanical assemblies and drive to closure all systems integration trades related to those assembliesPerform analysis and physical testing (both mechanical and electrical) of harnessing with respect to thermal, loads, vibration, and shock to ensure full qualification for flightDocument and communicate the design, analysis, and testing results thoroughly and clearly via design reviewsCreate and release on schedule, appropriate harnessing manufacturing documentation and drawingsInterface with harness production and integration teams to ensure final harness designs can be produced and installed on schedule in accordance with overall project goalsPerform R&D investigations and trade studies to push wire harness design to new boundaries in terms of mass and cost savingsWhat you'll bring:

5+ years of experience with wire harness 3D design, installation drawings, and formboard creation, as well as wiring diagrams.Bachelor's degree in a STEM disciplineProficiency with CAD and FEA software packages, particularly Siemens NX and TeamcenterSkilled in 3D modeling for complex top-level assemblies and analysis of avionics enclosures and secondary structuresWhat we offer:
