How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
Cleaners within the Bus Maintenance department clean and maintain transit vehicle interiors and exteriors to a high standard for our internal and external customers.
Hours are typically third shift and may require working weekends as well.
Hourly Pay Scale:$22.65 starting pay$25.88 - 2nd year$29.12 - 3rd year$32.24 - Top pay

This posting will establish a six-month candidate pool for present and future openings.What you would do in this jobClean buses: sweeps and removes debris; washes windows, seats and dusts interior; hand washes interior, scrubs exterior, scrubs and sprayers wash exterior; removes graffiti/gum; rinses and mops floors and seat extract.Record bus numbers on markup sheet.Drive buses on Metro Transit property (training provided).Perform miscellaneous building cleaning as assigned by supervisor.Identify visible defects on buses while performing cleaning tasks.Separate recyclable papers and dump in proper container.Perform related work as apparent or assigned.What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)High school diploma or GED.
What additional skills and experience would be helpful in this job (desired qualifications):
Previous experience cleaning the interior and exterior of large passenger vehicles or trains is desired.Previous experience working with biohazard substance/material such as bodily-fluid, urine, blood, vomit, etc.Experience working in a diverse workforce.What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six months on the job:

What your work environment would be:
Work is performed in a maintenance garage setting. May require working in wet or hot, humid non-weather conditions. Must be able to climb up and down stairs of buses constantly throughout shift. Work near moving parts and equipment and in the presence of bus fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. Regular attendance is an essential responsibility.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, bend or stoop for an entire 8-hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50-pounds. Ability to work with harsh cleaning and soap compounds.
