A law firm seeks a junior-to-mid-level Associate Attorney with expertise in environmental law to join its growing practice in Seattle. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with some of the most experienced environmental attorneys in the Pacific Northwest. The role focuses on a wide array of environmental legal services, including complex litigation, regulatory compliance, and transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in environmental law, particularly in managing cases involving contaminated properties and environmental regulations.Duties:
Handle a variety of environmental cases, including upland and aquatic cleanups, redevelopment projects, and the purchase and sale of contaminated properties.Advise clients on the Washington Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) compliance.Manage environmental litigation, cost recovery, and allocation of liabilities related to contaminated sites.Assist clients with environmental insurance claims and real estate transactions involving brownfield properties.Represent clients, including large corporations, small businesses, and public entities, in regulatory and transactional matters.Conduct legal research, prepare necessary documents, and represent clients in negotiations and court proceedings.Collaborate with the firm’s attorneys to grow and develop the environmental practice.Requirements:
3-6 years of experience in environmental law, including regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters.Strong knowledge of MTCA, CERCLA, and other relevant environmental laws and regulations.Experience or interest in real estate transactions and development involving contaminated properties.Ability to manage fast-paced, complex cases and work with a diverse range of clients.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:
Licensed to practice law in the state of Washington or eligible for admission.Skills:
Strong research and writing skills with an ability to manage complex environmental matters.Expertise in environmental law, particularly related to contaminated properties and liability allocation.Ability to work collaboratively with a team while managing individual responsibilities.Strong client management and relationship-building skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
