Duties and Responsibilities
The School of Education (SOE) at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for
part-time instructors
to teach in the SOE's Teaching and Learning (T&L) program area during the 2022-2023 academic year and beyond. Candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to urban education and dedication to serving a historically minoritized student population consistent with Loyola's commitment to advancing social justice through transformative education.
Typical areas of need within our program include:
Elementary education
(grades 1-6) with experience in literacy and/or social studiesPreschool (ages 3-5) and early elementary (K-2) teachingMiddle grades (5-8) and secondary (9-12) education,
including content area instruction in areas such as mathematicsCulturally responsive and anti-racist pedagogy , with a social justice lens on educational psychology, child development, and educational policy.Serving culturally and linguistically diverse populationsSpecial education (PK-21)Supervision of internship experiencesTeaching up to six credit hours of courses or modules per semester . Courses typically take place in the morning, late afternoon, or evening.Supporting existing partnerships with schools and community agencies through
collaborative on-site work with teachers and administrators .Collaboration with T&L chairs and faculty
to ensure consistency and quality across sections and semesters.Face-to-face instruction
is required, with faculty supervising field experiences directly.Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned Master's or Doctorate in appropriate area(s) of education3+ years of experience as a Preschool-Grade 12 educator in an area of need listed aboveCurrent or previous state educator licensureSuccessful prior work in teacher educationPreferred Experiential Qualifications:
Urban education experiences and efforts to address social justiceSupervision or field-based work with practicum students and/or internsOpen Date
