JOB SUMMARY:The Show Control Programmer is responsible for conceiving, designing and developing code, scripting and user interface controls of complex control systems for all entertainment and park entertainment venues, in-field show programming, integrated media and show elements, working in close collaboration with the Show Designer, Show Producer, Creative Director, Show Design Director, and Media team (including but not limited to the Media Producer, Media Director and 3rd party media vendors). The Show Control Programmer works primarily to configure all show elements to the audio, visual and special FX cues of the show’s media in all stages of design and development, to create triggers that creatively merge and precisely synchronize all aspects of each discipline.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Draft complex control system software using programming on several different platforms and several scripting languages. Evaluate & read schematics and design field related asset instrumentation and automation. Design and build proofs of concept programming for new shows, venues, and parades with associated software code. Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing and start up.

Communicates project status and elevates issues or concerns to department management and appropriate partners.

Maintains and monitors Firmware and Operating systems for all network attached Show Control Devices.

Ensure proper completion of documentation such as as-built information as well as Standard Operating Procedures as they pertain to the programming. Responsible for archiving and creating back-ups of all programming scripts.

Diagnose system failures and provide both immediate and long-term corrective actions. This entails logical and extensive troubleshooting and referring to technical manuals, technical library while utilizing a systematic approach.

Deploy programming and support show direction with any requested changes.

Stay up to date on technology trends to advance production capabilities.

Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:Technical school, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree is required.

EXPERIENCE:Required:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the assigned technical discipline.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience with coding entertainment show control systems.

High Level Q-sys, Lua, Winscript programming.

Advance knowledge of networking protocol and structure.

Advance knowledge of industry equipment.

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

Minimum 10 years’ experience within the assigned technical discipline.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.

As directed, may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members.
