Mercer University is searching for an Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life for Residential Programs and Services on the Macon campus.Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life for Residential Programs and Services at Mercer University is responsible for overseeing residential programs, staff supervision, and the Housing Student Conduct process. This role supervises Area Coordinators and student staff, including Resident Directors and Resident Assistants, and plays a key role in crisis management. The Assistant Director also participates in the professional on-call rotation and works closely with University Conduct staff to address student behavioral issues. This position helps create a supportive, safe, and engaging residential environment that fosters student success.Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field is required along with three years of related experience in Housing and Residence Life, which must include experience in student conduct, crisis management and supervision. A demonstrated commitment to community development within the campus environment is essential. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Serve with the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director(s) as a member of the central management team in devising, executing, and evaluating departmental goals, policies, organization, and programs.General understanding and appreciation for a student development-based approach.Excellent collaboration skills coupled with the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.Ability to see the “big picture.”Must be self-motivated.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Strong clerical skills with an appreciation for accuracy and attention to detail.Must have problem-solving skills, especially in dealing with financial records and roommate issues.Ability to use various computer programs (Campus Vue, Transact, etc.).Ability to work non-traditional hours, i.e. nights and weekends when required.The position requires the incumbent to live in a residence hall.Background Check Contingencies:
