Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.SHIFT TIME: 4:00pm-2:00amProvide leadership in plant safety and operations on a day-to-day basisDevelop and maintain positive working relationships with customersEstablish production work schedulesProvide leadership in people development activities such as hiring, training, developing, and coaching staffServe as a role model; support and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies and practicesSupport manager in long-range planning and budgetingWork closely with commercial team to keep them informed when nonferrous commodities need to be soldConduct monthly inventoryHands-on leadership approach in working with teammatesMinimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED requiredBachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering or related field, or a minimum of 3 years management experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environmentSafety OrientedExperience in operations or manufacturing with heavy equipmentExperience in scrap processingPreferences:
Knowledge of inventory management, shipping and receiving material using lean manufacturing principles is a plusProven ability to communicate with all levels of customers and internal contactsGood verbal and written communication skillsSkilled and experienced with personal computers, software, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to plan, manage and prioritize work; adapt to a changing environment; strong organized approach to workDemonstrated skill in initiating and managing projects; building and leading a project teamSOME OF THE BEST BENEFITS IN THE BUSINESSMedical and dental are just the beginning.
