Director of Operations - Muskegon MI area
Purpose of the Job
To serve our customers with industry-leading quality and delivery performance, by cultivating a high-performance culture within Operations. The Director of Operations will directly oversee the daily operations of our manufacturing facilities, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in operations management, who can drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential Responsibilities
Operational Planning:
Improve plant productivity by analyzing the value stream and targeting measurable improvement in cycle-times, staffing levels, delivery, quality, yield, equipment utilization, inventory, etc.
Operational Performance:
Deliver daily, weekly and monthly performance across all key measures. Provide detailed analysis and countermeasures for variances to plan.
Workforce Planning:
Maintain appropriate level of staff support necessary to meet customer needs and budgetary goals and objectives. In times of variance, quickly develop plans and justification to remedy the situation.
Workforce Development:
Develop a system to create strong job skills and an empowered conscientious workforce. Identify long-term staffing needs and implement training and cross-training programs to prepare people for future opportunities.
Value Stream:
Develop and refine manufacturing processes. Continuously improve current processes capabilities to drive throughput, velocity of material and customer satisfaction. Work with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to identify and develop new manufacturing capabilities aligned with the strategic plan.
Quality Management:
Work with the Quality team to drive discipline and improvements to the QMS that maintains a high standard of quality from the people and with our products. Ensure robust documentation of procedures and work standards.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Support the budgeting process by translating forecasted demand into accurate labor budgets and capacity plans. Collaborate with Directors of Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to provide input to the annual capital budget and financial justification for capital investments.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Culture:
Model the Company values and model high levels of integrity and transparency. Help build a high-performance culture and reputation as a great place to work.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, or related discipline.
MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
15+ Years in manufacturing leadership including cross-functional responsibility for a plant or value stream with > 250 team members.
Deep experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles and building capable systems. Excellent analytical skills and a high degree of financial acumen.
Excellent change leadership and communication skills.
Skilled in managing projects, timelines, and budgets.
Tech savvy with deep understanding of MRP and ERP systems.
