The Associate Director is a member of the senior leadership team within Undergraduate Admission, assisting in crafting strategy, programs, and initiatives to help the university meet enrollment goals. Specifically, the associate director will serve as a Regional Admission Counselor for students from the west coast. The regional admission counselor will lead the Office of Undergraduate Admission in an area of significance relating to the enrollment goals of the university recruiting and enrolling talented students from California who will contribute to the vibrant community and academic rigor of Case Western Reserve University. Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract and enroll prospective students from California. Craft this plan in consultation with senior leadership in Undergraduate Admission and Enrollment Management. Maintain accurate records of recruitment activities, applicant interactions, and admission decisions using the universities CRM system, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures. Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Office of Undergraduate Admission, as well as other departments across campus, to coordinate recruitment efforts, develop marketing materials, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the admissions process. (25%)Make decisions on the admissibility of candidates from California who apply for undergraduate admission to the university. Analyze and interpret high school and college transcripts, interpret standardized test scores, assess academic achievement (must be able to assess strength of courses with the same title offered at different high schools), evaluate quality of essays, interview reports, and letters of recommendation. Synthesize this information to predict the likelihood of success at the university in the candidate’s indicated area of academic interest. Make admission decisions based on academic program, contributions to high school and community through extracurricular activities, quality of high school, test scores and make judgements based on demographic information in comparison to other candidates. Evaluate and make admission decisions for candidates based on desirability to the university in meeting a multitude of enrollment goals, which requires application of variable standards. Make judgements and identify special cases that need to be reviewed by the director.Associate Directors have the authority to make decisions on the admissibility of candidates in approximately 96% of admission cases. (25%)Plan and coordinate recruitment for California. Be knowledgeable of overall communications and recruitment efforts; engage in ongoing assessment of how those efforts can be supplemented by regional recruitment efforts i.e., travel alumni and student activities in the area, and correspondence and phone calls to students and guidance counselors in the area. Contact individual high schools to schedule visits. Make decisions about priorities when conflicts between available schools are identified. Contact alumni in recruitment territory to schedule alumni events. Book all airline, lodging, and transportation needs for travel in compliance with university policies. International travel may be included. Reconcile travel expenses within a timely manner while following the university travel guidelines. (25%)Initiate, develop, and cultivate strong partnerships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, and other key stakeholders in the California region to promote Case Western Reserve University and provide support throughout the admission process. Articulate the profile of students who are likely to be competitive for admission at Case Western Reserve University. Be able to communicate to counselors those students who may be competitive and are desired by the university, but who might fall outside of normal admissions expectations. Explain admission decisions to counselors whose students have applied for admission. Understand current admission and higher education trends. Be the expert on Case Western Reserve University and the admission office to high school counselors. Understand and be able to articulate exceptions to expected admissions decisions. Associate Directors often present at school-wide programs in high profile and strategically important schools and regularly attend national conferences and meetings. (20%)NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Through the use of historical applicant data, current inquiry data, and external data sources, identify high schools to visit for recruitment and relationship building. Review past histories, future opportunities, and enrollment goals to determine which high schools within the recruitment territory should be prioritized. Assess college fairs based on likely success of the event and return on investment. Incorporate into travel itinerary when appropriate. (5%)Perform other duties as assigned. (

Experience: 5 years professional work experience in undergraduate admission, high school counseling, or related field.Education/Licensing: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Valid driver’s license required.REQUIRED SKILLS
Knowledge of the higher education landscape, particularly in California, and familiarity with admissions processes and trends.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to teamwork.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM systems preferred.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within California and occasionally nationally.Ability to travel to Case Western Reserve University at least twice per year for on-campus events, training, or other events.Ability to meet consistent attendance.Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.WORKING CONDITIONS
Fully remote work in the State of California with regular meetings and activities. Recruitment travel requires plane and rental car transportation. Position required frequent evening and weekend work. This position involves responsibility for working with individuals under the 18 years of age.
