We are seeking a

High Parameter Flow Core Specialist.

The position presents an exciting opportunity to engage with flow cytometry applications in leading-edge research and to collaborate with a diverse array of investigators in the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. The selected candidate will be an integral member of the core facility, directly contributing to successful project outcomes and helping drive science forward. The position will offer training on the use of state-of-the-art flow cytometry technology and unique opportunities of exposure to fundamental and translational research in cancer immunology and immunotherapy in the Bloomberg Kimmel Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy.The primary responsibilities of the High Parameter Flow Core Specialist are to assist the core director in managing the facility, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot state-of-the-art cell sorters and cell analyzers, one of which will be operated under BSL2+ conditions. Successful performance in this role generally requires some prior flow cytometry experience and a knowledge of laboratory concepts, practices, operations, and regulatory requirements under BSL2+ conditions. This individual will work under the supervision of the core manager/director, supporting and overseeing analysis units. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to administrative support such as assisting users with scheduling, record keeping, usage tracking, iLab management solution, and inventory control.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesLab managing administrative duties, such as monthly billing and user scheduling on iLab, inventory control, lab organization, service contract maintenance, etc.Troubleshoot and maintain multi-laser, state-of-the-art flow sorters and analysis units.Apply knowledge of concepts, principles, practices and methods specifically used in cell sorting and analysis.Develop and implement procedures to accomplish work operations and objectives in support of research activities and to ensure efficient utilization of the core laboratory resources.Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment and troubleshooting multiple cell sorting and FACS analysis instruments. Current instruments include conventional and spectral instruments for analysis and cell sorting.Ensure proper maintenance of all instrumentation. Ensure proper use and safety of equipment.Train users in the proper use of the user-based instruments.Monitor use of equipment and ensure that supplies and inventory are maintained.Ensure compliance with safety standards to maintain a safe environment.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.One year laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.Master's degree, with related graduate research, may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
