THE OPPORTUNITY

Western Connecticut State University’s Ancell School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), a prestigious accreditation held by approximately 6% of global business schools. This accreditation signifies the high quality of education provided by the school. We are looking for someone to continue our success.

The Ancell School of Business offers a robust selection of undergraduate programs in accounting, cybersecurity, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing, as well as two graduate programs, business administration (MBA) and health administration (MHA). With flexible course delivery options—including in-person, remote, hybrid, and asynchronous classes—the school caters to the diverse needs of both full-time students and working professionals.

With a curriculum that balances theoretical knowledge and practical application, the school provides students with a comprehensive education in key areas of business. Our small class sizes foster close faculty-student interactions, allowing for mentoring relationships that extend well beyond graduation. Our faculty comprises experienced professionals and academics who are dedicated to student success. The new dean will need strong collaborative skills and must work collegially with various people and offices at WCSU and in the Danbury region.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dean will be responsible for promoting, developing, and sustaining Ancell School of Business’ educational, scholarly, and public service programs. The Dean provides collegial leadership and consensus building for faculty organized into five departments – Accounting, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. The degrees offered are Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Accounting, Cybersecurity, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, as well as Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Doctoral Business degree in a field offered within Ancell’s curricula from an AACSB school or equivalent accreditation.

Record of significant experience with AACSB accreditation processes and standards.

Substantial academic management and administrative experience such as Chairperson, Program Director, or the equivalent.

A record of significant teaching, scholarship, or creative activity.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, problem solve and maintain good working relationships with all internal and external constituencies of the University.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience as an Assistant Dean, Associate Dean or Dean at an AACSB accredited school or serving similar functions.

AACSB Peer review team member.

Experience with strategic planning, campus governance, collective bargaining agreements, faculty selection and faculty evaluation.

Strong external relationship management and a record of successful fundraising.

Background or experience with the industry including corporations, chambers of commerce, and/or NGOs.

Experience in academic program development, curricular design, assessment, and multiple educational platforms.

Experience working with a diverse student constituency and evidence of commitment to student success, retention, engagement, and student support mechanisms.

Experience managing budgets.

Salary & Benefits:

The hiring salary range is $181,591 - $226,988 and is commensurate upon candidates' experience. WCSU offers a comprehensive benefits package. Additional information on benefits can be found at
