Position Overview
Navistar’s Procurement Team has an immediate need for an
Advanced Sourcing Manager
for Electrification programs.
The Advanced Sourcing Manager is responsible for working with the Electrification Category Management Teams (CMTs), collaborating with engineering on new product development programs to develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with Navistar’s business objectives. The Advanced Sourcing Manager is a strong negotiator focused on the most strategic and complex sourcing projects, often involving supplier-owned Intellectual Property requiring long lead times and early source selection. Sourcing scope is focused on new programs supporting Navistar’s shift to Battery Electric Vehicles. Electrification components include EV Batteries (cells, packs, modules), high voltage onboard chargers, distribution, eAxle components and many more. Scope will also include starters, alternators, and traditional lead-acid batteries.
Responsibilities
Work with advanced engineering teams to develop cost estimates and strategic sourcing plans for new product introductions that align to the category strategy as well as program timing and objectivesWork closely with Sourcing Managers from Navistar peer Traton organizations on joint global sourcing packages to be used by all brandsPrepare strategic sourcing package and manage quotation process developing qualified bidders list, gather all technical and commercial requirements, issue RFIs, RFQs and RFPsAnalyze quotes, assemble supplier proposal assessment with CMT including technical, quality, manufacturability, financial health, etc.Facilitate communications between external suppliers and various internal departments to resolve queries or issuesDevelop negotiation strategy and lead negotiations, including all financials (cost, piece price, tooling, development costs, packaging etc.) and commercial terms with supplier to achieve best overall total cost of ownership (TCO)Lead category alignment to a recommended sourcePrepare and present required sourcing nomination materials and secure approvals per internal governance processNegotiate and execute commercial/legal agreements such as Nomination Letter, Comprehensive Supply Agreements, and Development AgreementsServe as Category Manager for Starters, Alternators and Lead Acid Batteries and own Category strategy and supplier performance for Quality, Cost, Delivery, Technology, and Sustainability (QCDTS)
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degreeAt least 8 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience1 year lead experienceORMaster's degreeAt least 6 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience1 year lead experienceORAt least 10 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience1 year lead experience
