Program Operations Manager

A large research center at the University of Washington is looking to hire a Program Operations Manager to help assist the Co-Director in the starting phases of their new project which is focused on setting up a national center to support the U. S. research community. This position is new to the team and job duties may expand as the Center kicks off and is developed in the first year, but below are a list of the initial roles and responsibilities.
Research Administration & Operations Support Provide post-award support and grant monitoring for external awards that are housed in the Institute. Establish and maintain a system for tracking grant milestones, report deadlines, and other program deliverables. Manage timelines and coordinate activity of multiple authors to ensure timely submission. Monitor faculty and staff effort and payroll distributions, purchasing equipment, supplies and services, and budget creation and close-out. Ensure compliance with university and sponsor policies.
Financial Management & Operations Oversee annual operating budget of $10 million. Conceive, plan, coordinate, and implement budgets, financial forecasts for new projects, initiatives, and program matching. Contribute to the development of a sustainable long-term business plan. Establish processes to monitor, approve, track, and reconcile expenditures on Institute budgets. Make and approve acquisition of goods and services, delegating authority as appropriate. Apply principles of financial management and cost accounting standards to prepare complex reports and forecasts for sponsored projects, gifts, and other programs. Produce clear and effective documents and reports. Manage deadlines and coordinate activities of multiple authors, and contribute content related to finance and administration. Support executive committee and advisory board, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, gathering data and preparing reports and presentations under guidance of the Director.

Previous University of Washington experience or other University experience Workday Bachelors Degree in related field (Business Admin, Higher Education Admin, etc) 4-5 Years of experience in research administration, Higher education and/or Fiscal Management Strong understanding of academic research and proposal process. From pre-award to post award activities. Excellent oral and written communication. Ability to understand and translate technical content for a variety of audiences 2-3 years experience establishing new processes and/or independent managing administrative or Financial process. 2-3 years experience using Financial and Grants management tools (Workday, Oracle, SAP, ERP system, etc)
