The Director-Academic Services is the administrative head for the Psychology undergraduate advising office. The incumbent directs all activities of the Psychology Undergraduate Advising Office and creates short term and long range plans to assure that the large variety of activities in the office are completed in a timely manner. This position is responsible for overseeing student advising and outreach, planning and leading programmatic services for students, facilitating the admissions process, supervising academic services staff, and fostering collaboration and partnerships to support program and student success.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Advising Students (35%):Advise and counsel declared majors, prospective majors, high school students, transfer students, prospective applicants to graduate programs, parents and other members of the community.Advise 1,000 to 1,200 diverse undergraduate psychology majors regarding academic requirements.Collaborate with faculty departmental honors program director to assist participating students.Counsel students on academic warning or probation and students experiencing academic difficulty.Advise interested students on graduate school preparation and career planning.Programmatic Responsibilities (40%):Serve as a member of the department Curriculum Committee and Undergraduate Awards Committee.Coordinate and direct summer and winter orientation sessions for incoming transfer students.Administer end-of-program assessment for the Psychology Department.Direct and manage all aspects of annual selection process for several undergraduate scholarships.Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the annual departmental undergraduate graduation ceremony.Personnel Management (10%):Supervise two Senior Academic Counselors and one Program Coordinator.Conduct annual performance evaluations of professional and classified staff.University Service (15%):Serve as liaison and resource to advisors in other departments and community college advisors.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling or related field.Minimum two years experience as an academic advisor or related position.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with statistical analysis.Strong organizational skills.Desire to work with diverse backgrounds.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
