The East Kimberley is diverse, with a unique mix of cultures, lifestyles, and abundant opportunities.The OpportunityWe are seeking a motivated individual to join our Planning and Regulatory Services team. You will be responsible for providing efficient, professional, and customer-focused planning services that meet all applicable legislative obligations and complement other functions (infrastructure, building, environmental health, and local laws) within the Shire.This role is also responsible for:Providing professional planning advice to the community, Government agencies, developers, and other departments on land use planning and development.Administering the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme and land use control in accordance with Council delegations, planning policies, and administrative procedures.Lodging and recording development and other planning-related applications and subdivision referrals in accordance with relevant legislation and policy.Preparing and presenting reports to Council on planning matters.Responding to general enquiries related to land use planning and development and the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme, policies, relevant Acts, Local Laws, or Regulations.Providing excellent customer service and building and maintaining effective working relationships with external customers and stakeholders to achieve Shire goals.Ensuring compliance with statutory provisions and technical standards and assisting with the resolution of planning matters.A degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, equivalent industry experience, and a current unrestricted WA Drivers Licence are essential for this role. You will need to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of relevant and current statutory requirements, Acts, and Local Laws within a local government planning context, well-developed interpersonal skills, report writing skills, time management skills, and excellent computer skills.Location and Remuneration PackageThe role will be based from the Shire offices in Kununurra. An attractive remuneration package will include base salary, location allowance, and 11.5% Superannuation. This role is full-time with a remuneration package ranging between

$106,000 and $112,000
