is a critical thinking and project management role that implements a range of land use planning applications and projects that shape the City’s regulatory framework and its built environment.The role focuses on preparing, processing and implementing land use planning policies, structure plans, development contributions plans, submissions, scheme amendments and other projects and strategies for Council. The position also assists in operational planning matters and is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, leaders and a wide range of stakeholders.The

works on a permanent full-time basis and sits within the Project stream in Statutory Planning, and reports to the Coordinator - Statutory Project Planning.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Responsible for timely assessment / delivery of various land use planning application and projects, managing their own workload in a timely manner with minimal to little assistance. The complexity and type of the work will vary depending on need and priorities but it is generally expected that this position will focus on Structure Plans, Scheme Amendments, Development Contribution Plans, Local Planning Policies and other growth applications;Formulate, collaborate, review, implement and provide expert advice on local planning policies, scheme amendment and other statutory projects that shape the City’s regulatory framework;Can be relied upon to effectively manage time and produce high-quality reports, documents and recommendations that are clear and well-founded;Proficient at collaborating and negotiating with stakeholders, landowners and others, coordinating public engagement programs and materials to achieve the desired community outcomes in a complex planning policy and political environment;From time-to-time secondary functions can include mentoring, allocating work, assisting the Coordinators in operational management of designated employees and making decisions in accordance with the City’s Delegation of Authority Register, as required.The successful candidate will have the following:Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering or related areaDemonstrated experience processing and making recommendations on a wide range of planning applications that are clear, well-founded and within prescribed statutory timeframesComprehensive knowledge of town planning practice, principles and legislation that is relevant in a local government environmentAdvanced customer service and negotiation skillsA satisfactory National Police CertificateEligible for membership at the Planning Institute of AustraliaThe salary
