Join our dynamic team at YMCA Camp Pine Crest, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work!The Waterfront Supervisor is a dynamic leader who ensures the safe, engaging, and inclusive operation of all waterfront programs at Pine Crest, creating memorable experiences for participants through thoughtfully designed water-based activities like swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. Responsible for the daily management of waterfront areas, this role is essential to maintaining high standards in line with YMCA, Camping Quality Recommended Practices, and OCA guidelines. Working closely with the Program Director, the Waterfront Supervisor focuses on innovating programs, training and mentoring staff, and delivering high-quality programming that inspires and challenges.In this role, you will:Monitor the safety of all waterfront activities and respond immediately to rectify any safety concerns; proactively ensure the waterfront environment is safe and organized.Coordinate all swimming, canoeing, and kayaking programs, including direct program delivery as needed. Work with the Program Director and other Area Heads to plan and lead all camp activities, section nights, and special events.Provide leadership to the camp staff team by monitoring, coaching, and mentoring staff, offering ongoing feedback, and conducting appraisals for direct reports.Supervise the swimming, boating, and sailing area heads, ensuring they fulfil their roles and receive continuous feedback and support to deliver high-quality swim and boating programs.Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, including all paperwork related to waterfront operations (e.g., in-service trainings, opening and closing checklists), appraisals of direct reports, and any administrative duties assigned by the camp coordinator (such as scheduling).Build relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners continuously.Perform other duties as assigned.You bring:NLS, Pleasure Craft Operator Card, G Class driver’s license by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of the contract, or equivalent experience.Lifesaving Instructor & Examiner, ORCKA Basic Instructor, White Sail Levels, and experience as a supervisor or Program Head as assets.Minimum of 19 years of age for insurance purposes.Minimum 3 years of experience working in a camp or aquatic/waterfront environment.Demonstrated ability to lead and empower an inclusive staff team.Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective results.Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers.Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff.Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner.Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging.What you need to succeed:Commitment to the YMCA’s Mission, Vision and Values.Focus on the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.YMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship-Builder, Improvement-Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter.Why work for the YMCA?The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow, lead, and give back to their communities.
