The Senior Sales Director leads a team of outside sales professionals within a geography, helps to craft the business strategy, and executes the plan. This position is responsible for maintaining and growing sales of chemicals and services in line with the long-term strategy and annual budget targets. The Senior Sales Director supports the outside sales team by planning, mentoring, coaching, and continuously evaluating the workforce planning needs to support the business and long term plan. The Director will support customer visits with the sales team or individually as applicable. The Director will help to develop and operate a commercial process that supports the long-term strategy.

GOALS / PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Deliver annual budgeted gross profit within geography.Achieve specific individual annual goals in support of larger organizational goals.Maintain stability within sales team measured by lack of unplanned turnover and favorable employee survey results.EXPECTATIONS/DUTIESEvaluate business needs and build productive long-lasting relationships with team and customers.Recruit, hire and train sales staff with team.Manage and exceed goals in the areas of sales, profit margins, territory development and customer development.Identify market changes with leadership team, then execute price changes and profit improvement activities with the sales team.Engage key and corporate account customers directly to build productive relationships.Analyze existing accounts to identify gained/ lost business. Formulate and execute plan to regain lost business.Research sales leads by understanding the potential customer base or working with other CCS departments to follow leads and opportunities.Plan and facilitate training sessions and sales meetings to keep team updated regarding the latest market developments and knowledge.Observe current processes and determine ways to improve and streamline best practices, including implementation of new sales processes and systems.Utilize the Microsoft Dynamics CRM System to track market penetration versus goals and opportunity funnel health.Act on market trends through active participation in professional associations, networking, trade journals, tradeshows, etc.Foster teamwork through collaboration and cooperation with senior leaders, peers, and reports to achieve the vision, mission and strategy of CCS.Convey written messages either through email, reports, or other written media in a clear, concise and professional manner.Other assignments as needed.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field required7+ years of successful previous experience in a sales leadership position, preferably in the chemical distribution industryExperience using and managing opportunity pipeline and CRM toolsTravel up to 70% of the timeExcellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills at all levels of the organizationProven ability to successfully drive the sales process from start to closeStrong business sense, analytical skills, and industry expertiseExcellent interpersonal skills, mentoring, coaching and people management skillsDeep understanding of the chemical distribution businessPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
