Responsibilities
Oversees and supports account plans and strategic market plans for the North American region with the support of the EN and SN RBDs and RMDs.
Implement and conduct portfolio management by competitive-product, and technology positioning for all relevant market segments.
Implement short and long-term sales and profitability targets.
Stay informed and aligned in regards to harmonization of regional and local targets with Product Management.
Be part of the implementation and support established pricing policies in order to assure the attainment of CM1 targets of the region and BL.
Plan and execute proactive and reactive strategy to changing market conditions and competitive forces.
Ensure that the correct business model is applied at the Product Line level to drive sales of Essential Nutrition and/or Special Nutrition products.
Establish responsibilities and objectives in the sales and technical teams in order to achieve regional and BL targets.
Support continuous market data collection including competition reviews, sales targets, customer-relevant contact information and detailed account plans.
Establish and monitor sales force expense and sales budgets to ensure the optimal coverage performance at the most effective cost.
Define and monitor products stock levels in order to balance the Service Level to customers and NWC targets in NA.
Ensure that continuous good practices are introduced in the Business Line in NA aiming at increasing business efficiency and reduce cost.
Responsible for hiring, training, motivating, supervising and developing the team in North America.
Define the critical factors needed to successfully expand the businesses into desired segments.
Establish strong relationships with AN customers and industry associations.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or Veterinary, plus a minimum of 10 years (15 years preferred) of related sales experience in the feed additives and/or animal health fields. An MBA and experience in managing sales and technical teams in the animal health/nutrition business is a plus.
Training and Experience:
In-depth knowledge and experience in the area of commercial sales and management of sales and technical teams. Preference is to have experience in the fields of animal nutrition, animal health and/or livestock management, with exposure to Supply Chain and Operations. International experience would be an advantage. Proven and successful project-related work (lead and team member) is necessary.
Other Requirements:
This position requires effective analytical skills in a developed market, as well as assessment of competitors in the AN or Animal Health arenas. This position needs to be able to analyze trends, to create projections of customer’s needs, potential products, and competitors’ strategies. Able to generate effective business models in order to achieve targets. To be successful, the incumbent will be required to formalize the results of these processes into clearly defined business goals and objectives with supporting rationales, and to influence internal decision-makers. This position requires high analytical competence, combined with technical knowledge and business acumen, and the ability to manage people and to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, members and individuals. The position requires deep knowledge of the animal production chain (poultry, swine, ruminants), having developed, over his/her career, contacts with animal production stakeholders in the purchasing as well as in the nutrition and health departments of the most important customers. Maintains regular and ongoing contacts with the operational departments (Operations, Controlling, Technical Services and Production), to both gather information and intelligence, and to communicate directions, updates and changes as required. This position receives overall direction from the Regional Vice President.
