The Senior Program Manager works in partnership with faculty and staff members of the Center for Lifespan, Tulane Personalized Health Institute, Tulane Obesity Research Center, and Southern Center for Maternal Health Equity to manage program, administrative and financial aspects of Institute activities. The Senior Program Manager oversees the daily administrative operation which includes but are not limited to: hiring and training of staff; organizing seminars; developing newsletters and annual reports; coordinating internal and external advisory committee meetings; and assisting with the evaluation of research programs and the center. Coordinates other sponsored research awards under the center throughout their life cycles. This includes proactive facilitation and management of grant and institutional awards; drafting and submission of required reports; supporting program governance and instituting processes to guide daily activities; monitoring program progress; identifying risks and issues and suggesting/implementing corrective measures; coordination of projects and their interdependencies; managing the utilization of resources across projects and the Center; managing communication; clarifying and communicating program priorities; tracking and facilitating achievement of program deliverables. Compiles and prepares regulatory documents for IRB submissions and liaises with the necessary study personnel at other institutions, managing personnel actions (PAFs), personnel requests, and effort reporting for Center personnel. The Senior Program Manager also oversees all financial aspects of the center’s sponsored research projects, which include but are not limited to: preparing non-technical aspects of research proposals; developing and monitoring subcontracts; preparing and forecasting budgets; preparing quarterly narrative reports; tracking billing and collections; and reconciling accounts.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of software applications – MS Office Suite (including Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, and Tulane’s financial software-Concur, Datastore, and TAMs (or similar software).Demonstrated ability to prioritize and competently manage a variety of activities with multiple deadlines.Proven ability with program management.Proven ability with budget management and accountability.Highly proficient in grant proposal preparation skills and a strong working knowledge of federal and private foundation grant submission processes and procedures.Familiarity with a sponsored research environment in an academic setting.Excellent program evaluation and monitoring skills.Interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff, and students.Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities.Ability to work autonomously when needed, but functions well in a team.Excellent discretion, judgment, attention to detail, and initiative.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.Strong oral and written communication skills.Required Education and/or Experience

• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field• 2 years of experience related to program management and financial management.OR• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field• 5 years of experience related to program management and financial management.Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in research and academic program management, preferably in a health-related scientific, research and development, or higher education setting.Compensation Information
