Summary of Job Duties:

The Professional Learning Director is assigned to the Jodie Mahony Center for Gifted Education. This position is primarily responsible for professional learning training, curriculum materials for schools, and planning, development, implementation, field testing, and revision of Center curriculum and program materials. This position will work closely with the director of the Center, administrative staff, and Arkansas school districts. This is a provisional position governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

Master’s Degree in Gifted, Creative, and Talented Education or related field

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Experience working in a higher education or secondary school environment with adult learners

Experience with a variety of educational technology tools

Experience in leading teacher teams

Experience with Advanced Placement and the College Board

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, design, develop, implement, coordinate and conduct training and professional learning activities for teachers including virtual and face-to-face Professional Learning Institutes for teachers

Develop strategies to increase teacher content knowledge, skills, and efficacy in teaching advanced curriculum

Work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups

Collaborate with teachers in integrating technology to enhance instructional and curriculum materials

Provide technical assistance for teachers through credit-bearing courses and online undergraduate and graduate courses

Develop additional curricular components for Center projects

Communicate with School Administrators

Participate in budget-related discussions related to resources for implementing project activities

Collaborate with Project PI to align and monitor budgets and budget revisions with project goals and activities

Contribute to the writing of interim and annual project reports for national, state, and foundation funding agencies

Interact with school and agency personnel

Collaborate with the Center Director to establish an annual calendar for professional learning events

Articulate professional learning calendar with a comprehensive Center annual timeline

Disseminate project websites sharing lessons learned, project outcomes, and research results

Create multimedia and digital video presentations and promotions

Develop and submit proposals for conference presentations as appropriate

Contribute to manuscript development on Center projects and activities

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

The ability to travel in-state and out-of-state

The ability to work outside of normal office hours

The ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with teachers and students

Possession of excellent written and oral communication and leadership skills

Possession of exceptional organization and interpersonal skills

Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines

Experience in computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet

Experience with Advanced Placement programs, AP Summer Institutes, and other activities of the College Board

Experience with campus-based enrichment and accelerative programs for children and youth

Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a vehicle

Salary Information:
