ualr.edu/trioSummary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks applications for the position of Student Development Specialist/Coordinator, a 12-month full-time, provisional position in the TRIO Talent Search Program, a higher education access program for high school-age youth. The position is grant-funded and is contingent upon annual federal appropriation. The Student Development Specialist/coordinator is responsible for implementing a postsecondary access strategy for eligible high school participants. The Coordinator will implement the tutoring and summer programs, conducts high school visits, and provide these services: advising, career exploration, study skills, exposure to college campuses, college admissions, and financial aid application assistance. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:Master's degree;A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle are required for travel.Preferred Education and/or Experience :

Master's degree in counseling, student services, higher education, education, or closely related field;Two (2) years experience working with TRIO or similar populations;Experience working with high school-aged persons; knowledge of educational/ career/personal development strategies;Representative of the population served (first-generation college/low income); experience in overcoming barriers similar to the target population.Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Identify and select eligible participants;Assess and document students' academic, secondary and post-secondary needs;Develop workshops, conduct school visits, deliver presentations (in person and virtually);Coordinate and conduct college visit trips including overnight trips (in person and virtually);Assist students and parents regarding postsecondary admission and financial aid application;Document secondary and postsecondary enrollment and financial aid;Maintain database of student records;Attain program objectives for assigned target area/school;Prepare monthly, mid-year, and annual reports;Experience working in outreach/ supportive services, delivering presentations, and areas related to the development of personal and academic success;Implements CPP1, CPP2 & CPP3;Track and disseminate follow-up data to all former program participants;Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be flexible in scheduling to meet school and community demands on nights and weekends;Including overnight travel for student college visit trips and attendance at conferences;Highly motivated and have the ability to work in various educational settings;Experience working in outreach/ supportive services, delivering presentations, and areas related to the development of personal and academic success;Demonstrated interpersonal skills, sensitivity to and the ability to relate to program participants;Ability to work effectively with staff, school partners, and students of diverse backgrounds and educational levels;Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and adhere to deadlines;Knowledge of campus academic programs and postsecondary student personnel services;Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database operations;Basic knowledge of zoom, google classroom, and other social media platforms for recruitment and services to students;Must have the ability to frequently travel in-state and work outside normal office hours, evenings, and weekends;A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle are required for travel;An official transcript is required at the time of hire;Knowledge of purposes and performance outcomes of educational equity programs;Ability to relate to program participants;
