Summary
Under the supervision of the Interim Housing Operations Manager and Facility Supervisor(s), the Facility Assistant will work with the facility supervisor in maintaining the facility sites in the Interim Housing program. Ensuring that all the facilities are maintained and up to code of the program contract habitability standards.
Essential Functions
Adhere to SSG’s Code of Ethics and HOPICS’ Core Values.
Always maintain a safe environment, complying with Agency and industry standards and safety regulations.
Receive tasks daily from the Facility supervisor from the online form for facility requests.
Provide solutions to issues or challenges with the facility as they occur.
Troubleshoot and conduct repairs for the following, but not limited to:
Electrical
Plumbing
HVAC systems
Carpentry (Drywall and flooring)
Painting
Leaks
Locks
Window replacement
Smoke detectors
Propane tank (filling or replacing)
Installation, Assembly and Disassembly of the following but not limited to:
Bathroom fixtures
Light Fixtures
Bed frames
Lockers
Ceiling fans
Refrigerators
Closets
Smoke Detectors
Cubicles
Sneeze Guards
Doors
Television
Doorknobs
Toilets
Dressers
Washers
Dryers
Window Screens
Freezers
Maintain and landscape the exterior of the property (mowing, weeding, sweeping, pressure washing, raking etc.).
Maintain and disinfect any pet areas located on the property daily or more frequently as needed.
Opening and relocating interim housing sites.
Order and maintain adequate inventory list of materials and supplies.
Assist with delivering large supplies.
Responsible for inventory control of all materials and equipment.
Conduct monthly safety inspections of all equipment and facilities.
Ensure compliance of city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance operations are always met.
Responsible to ensure that each facility/building remain in compliance with all codes: local building and safety codes, OSHA, and EPA requirements, etc.
Attend all agency assigned trainings (Relias, manager lead trainings etc.).
Attend staff meetings, events, and seminars, etc.
Maintain high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality of employees, participants, company, and vendor’s data and handle sensitive and critical information with professionalism and discretion.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, participants, service providers and the community, maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Communicate with staff and participants in a non-judgmental manner, work cooperatively with all agency staff.
Represent the Agency in a professional manner at meetings and community events.
Regular attendance required.
Be knowledgeable and adhere to all Special Service for Groups Inc. and Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System practices, policies and procedures and its accrediting and standard setting bodies, such as LAHSA and state licensing.
Perform other assigned job duties in a timely and efficient manner as requested/required.
Secondary Functions
Overtime, holiday, or weekend work may be required.
Perform other duties assigned by senior management (Division Director, Deputy Director, Associate Director, or Senior Manager).
Perform roles and responsibilities of the Interim Housing Monitor when necessary, including but not limited to:
Cleaning client room/beds
Cleaning restrooms
Taking out trash of the facility
Assist client with relocation
Perform housekeeping responsibilities (sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming etc.).
Pack up client belongings
Disinfecting bathrooms/showers
Delivering meals to clients
Linen exchange
Laundry
Conduct search of client’s belongings
Hotbox client’s belongings
Making beds
Prepare room for clients to move in
Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High School Diploma or GED equivalent or 1 year relevant work experience.
Valid California driver license and proof of auto insurance.
Reliable transportation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
The Facility Assistant will work in an office setting, and outdoors. They may be exposed to aggressive, sometimes noisy, loud, and disruptive clients and must work in conjunction with other staff members, interface with courts, LA County Probation, Sheriff’s Department and Mental Health Departments and other community agencies. There will be times that the staff will be responsible to work in noisy environments where adults are free to talk loud and expressively.
Physical Requirements
This position demands good physical and mental health. The Facility Assistant will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule, must be able to move continuously during work hours and be able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 lbs.

Interruptions, changes in priorities/work schedules.
Be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.
