Department Summary

The Center for Accessible Education (CAE) facilitates academic, housing, dining, transportation, and other accommodations designed to promote equal educational access for UCLA students with qualifying disabilities. CAE provides services and programs for approximately 48,000 UCLA undergraduate and graduate students, in compliance with UCLA's responsibilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act. Qualifications
1-3 years Experience in a higher education setting, preferably in a disability services or resources capacity (Preferred)Thorough knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. (Required)Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills (Required)Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Assembly Bill 746. (Preferred)Working knowledge of UC Guidelines and Practices, and University Policy as they pertain to students with disabilities. (Preferred)Knowledge and ability to provide counseling on disability management and compensatory strategies for students with disabilities. (Preferred)Working knowledge of remote video conferencing solutions and other assistive and academic technology supporting accessibility in learning (Required)Working knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) employed by higher education institutions (Preferred)Ability to work collaboratively with individuals, departments and organizations on and off campus. (Required)Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively with students (with various disabilities and from diverse backgrounds) and with campus colleagues, governmental officials and community representatives. (Required)Working knowledge of accessible learning and pedagogical tools (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)CASp Certification through the California Division of the State Architect, or an equivalent physical and/or digital accessibility certification from a licensed agency (Preferred)
