OverviewResponsible for teen recruitment, coordinating and implementing cohesive teen programs and activities at the site level, or across multiple sites, and developing local resources for Club teens ages 13+. The Teen Director directs overall operation of a broad range of programs for teen members (such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education) with the primary concern for the program of activities. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates and supervises programs and program staff, and performs related administrative duties. Markets and establishes community relations to support at the club.DutiesProgram:

Establishes and maintains program setting which ensures the health and safety of members. Ensures members understand and follow standards of program; that program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that equipment is maintained in good working condition. Orders, maintains and ensures proper storage of equipment and supplies for program areas.Youth Development:

Develops and fosters a positive climate for youth development based on the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Club of America. Ensures that members: actively participate in a variety of programs/activities; seek advice/guidance from staff in regard to problems; and receive caring, respect and recognition for their efforts.Program Administration:

Plans and oversees the administration of programs and activities that support Boys & Girls Club Movements, Youth Development Strategy, establishing objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission. Evaluates programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities address the gender and cultural diversity of members.Daily Program Activities:

Implements and directs daily programs/activities in one or more program areas. Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program areas. Demonstrates leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.Guidance:

Develops and fosters a positive climate and assures youth receive constructive guidance to assist them in fulfilling and making appropriate choices in educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, and vocational needs. Implements a program that recognizes members for achievement. Enforces appropriate discipline when necessary.Administration:

Manages administrative functions of teen program areas and assigned resources. Ensures proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues. Oversees program within established budgetary guidelines.Marketing:

Promotes and markets Club One programs to members via posting of daily schedule, making announcements of upcoming events and disseminating timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers and media.ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIESSupervisory ResponsibilitiesBudget ResponsibilitiesRelationshipsInternal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.External: Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.QualificationsFour year degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience.A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the educational development needs of young people.Strong communication skills, understanding of group dynamics.Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.Recommended CPR and First Aid Certifications.Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.Ability to plan and implement fun and exciting quality programs for youth.Job Type:
