The University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law seeks an Associate Dean for Information Services and Law Library Director. The Associate Dean and Director will provide strategic direction and vision for the library, working collaboratively with library faculty and staff to meet the law school's educational mission through the provision and management of both traditional and novel library resources and services. The Associate Dean and Director will be a leader who can expand the ethical and appropriate use of developing technologies into the library and the law school and lead the library in contributing to the law school’s commitment to excellence in education and research. In this capacity, the Associate Dean and Director advocates for the law school and the library, develops community support, builds relationships with the central Arkansas legal community, and maintains an active working relationship with the Pulaski County Law Library Board since the law library also serves as the Pulaski County Law Library and receives funds from the county for purchasing materials for the purpose of supporting practitioners. The Associate Dean and Director will be a tenure-track member of the teaching faculty.Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and an M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school is required.Must possess a wide understanding of contemporary issues affecting legal education, libraries, and information technology.Must also have a minimum of five years of administrative experience in a law library; a demonstrated capacity to lead library faculty and staff and to manage complex projects; broad knowledge of all law library processes, functions, and operations, including electronic library functions, new and emerging technologies that affect the library, legal research, and legal education; and experience working with a diverse population of library users.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration of the library to include the following: supervise librarians and staff, negotiate with information/information services vendors, align library collections and services with law school mission, and communicate with the Pulaski County Law Library Board.Teach required courses.Manage library budget.Collaborate with other department heads in supporting and advising the dean.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to teach.Expertise in legal research platforms and databases.Demonstrated skill managing personnel, collections, and budgets.Demonstrated leadership ability.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituents.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.Negotiation and communication skills.Salary Information:
