October 8, 2024The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member specializing in research and clinical care of patients with sarcoma. The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Hematology and Oncology. The position will be at the assistant or associate professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical and laboratory research programs related to the biology and treatment of sarcoma. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop their own clinical research program. The position will also involve participation in the clinical and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division and the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
The successful candidate will be appointed in the Clinician Scholar track and will spend approximately 50% of time on clinical care. The remainder of the incumbent’s time will be protected for research, teaching, and mentorship.
University of Washington assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Qualifications
Applicants must have:
MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)Board certification in medical oncology (or foreign equivalent)Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated excellence in teaching, clinical oversight of learners, and research mentorship. The candidate should have a demonstrated record in clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research, with a primary focus on sarcomas and closely related conditions. Early career, laboratory-based applicants with less than five years of laboratory experience must show a demonstrated record of progressively independent research.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $305,350 to $329,167 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank and from $355,356 to $380,942 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus.
