Job Summary:
Elevate your culinary career as the
Executive Sous Chef
at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. In this role, you'll lead the culinary operations across multiple dining outlets, including the employee cafe and restaurant, delivering outstanding dining experiences in one of the nation's most iconic cultural venues.
Partnering with the Executive Chef, you'll lead daily kitchen operations, craft innovative menus, and ensure the highest standards of quality, service, and presentation. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, driven chef to showcase their leadership and culinary creativity in a multifaceted, high-profile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef in planning and implementing menus for the Kennedy Center's diverse dining outlets, including restaurants and the employee cafe.
Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, flavor, and presentation.
Manage food cost control, inventory, and staff scheduling to ensure operational efficiency and budget adherence.
Introduce fresh, innovative culinary concepts that improve the dining experience and reflect the Kennedy Center's status as a world-class venue.
Train, mentor, and lead the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Culinary degree or relevant certification with significant experience in restaurant operations.
Experience in high-volume foodservice, particularly in fine dining or cultural institution settings.
Strong understanding of current food trends, menu development, and cost management.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and encourage a kitchen team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and other relevant computer applications.
ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
