JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Resident Services is responsible for the leadership and overall operation of the Resident Services Department. Assures compliance with the Regulations of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs for Assisted Living. Hires, trains, schedules Resident Care Assistants and other nursing staff and provides supervision to them in the delivery of personal care services to the residents. The Director of Resident Services communicates the services to be provided to Residents and their families, prior to and throughout their residency. Communicates in a caring, professional manner to Residents, families, staff, and visitors. The Director of Resident Services functions as an integral member of the management team and may, at the discretion of the Executive Director, assume additional administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision to Resident Care Assistants and nurses, including orientation, training, scheduling, performance reviews, disciplinary action, and in-service education.

Assess Residents prior to their move.

Develop Service Plans for Residents upon move in and at intervals throughout their residency as required by state regulations.

Conduct Introductory Visits for Residents receiving personal care.

Provide orientation to the Community and to the personal care services for new Residents and their families.

Oversee and evaluate personal care services and medication management provided by Resident Care Assistants.

Develop and manage the staffing and operations budget for the Resident Services Department.

Participate as a member of the management team and of other committees as appointed by the Executive Director.

Communicate all issues and concerns in a timely manner to the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Director of Resident Services must be a nurse, registered or licensed to practice in Massachusetts.

A minimum of two years of experience working with an elderly population and providing supervision to other health providers is required.

Knowledge of aging and disability issues is required.

The ability to expertly assess the health care needs, personal care needs and emergency needs of older people is required.

Must be able to organize and follow through in a timely and efficient manner and in compliance with state regulations for assisted living and the policies of the company.

Must possess and demonstrate excellent skills as a communicator, both written and verbal.
