This is not a remote role:

Hybrid Work Environment; 3 days in NYC office; 2 remoteOverviewNYPL Digital is responsible for the digital transformation of the Library, delivering robust core patron-facing services through digital platforms. This role will support the library's Strategic initiatives as well as future Digital portfolio projects.

We’re seeking a highly motivated self-starter with solid experience in Agile and hybrid product development environments. The primary function of this role will be to support the library's strategic planning, and ensure coordination and communication among working groups and Digital staff, as well as drive product development projects within the Digital department.

We are looking for someone we can count on to:

Own :

End-to-end planning and coordination of strategic projects across development teams and working groupsProject and communication plans, timelines, and project status reportsQuarterly planning process for digital product initiatives, encompassing goal-setting, timeline creation, and continuous improvementCollaboration and coordination with cross-functional teams to establish and achieve strategic goals, manage resources, define and protect project scopeCoordination of successful deploymentsProject documentation and reportsTeach :

Simplified processes and workflows to drive optimal, efficient resultsBest practices in iterative development and incremental improvementsLearn:

1 month , this person will:

Understand the functional structure and core mission of NYPLUnderstand the organization, roles, and culture within the Digital Team, stakeholder, and leadership groupsOrganize project documentation and artifacts; take ownership of meetings, project deliverables, and build project plans3 months , this person will:

Gain an understanding of the institutional strategy and how the projects and deliverables contribute to institutional goalsBuild a comprehensive, proactive communication planEstablish strong, collaborative relationships between team members, stakeholders, and leadershipIdentify opportunities for process improvement and develop strategies to address them6 months and beyond , this person will:

Lead robust, aligned, high performing project teamsDrive development and execution of sprint, quarterly and annual goalsTake responsibility for overall delivery and management of all assigned projectsResponsibilities:

Define project scope, goals, deliverables, dependencies, and constraintsIdentification and mitigation of risks and issuesLead end-to-end project planning processes from inception through deliveryDevelop communication and capacity plans, project timelines, and status reportsLead scrum ceremonies and stakeholder meetings, including ownership of agendas, goals, and action itemsDrive quarterly, annual planning and goal setting processesMonitor progress toward goals, proactively adjusting processes and plans as neededMaintain accountability for committed scope, timelines, and deliverablesOther duties as assigned

Required Education, Experience & Skills

Required Education and Certifications

PMP and/or CSM is preferredBachelor’s degree - OR - 5 year’s experience managing software and/or web applications development projectsRequired Experience

3-5 years' experience managing software and/or web applications development projectsExperience managing AI, Drupal, or Digital Asset Management projectsRequired Skills

Proven ability to:

Proactively identify problems and find solutionsDeliver concurrent projects on time and budgetHold team members and vendors accountable for deliverables, being comfortable pushing back and escalating when neededWork both collaboratively and independently to achieve planned resultsDrive highly visible projects with cross-functional teams

Excellent verbal and written communication; strong presentation skillsKnowledge of industry standards in project management and development methodologies (Agile required with Shape Up and SAFe helpful)Understanding of backend and frontend technologies, and latest technologies like AIExcellent facilitation, organizational and time management skillsUnderstanding of the complexities of working with legacy systems and prioritization of technical debt vs featuresExperience with Scrum and hybrid project delivery methodologies and a variety of project planning and tracking tools, specifically JiraOther duties and projects as assignedManagerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:
