We are equipping universities within the UNC System with best-in-class technology, processes, and student support solutions so they can better compete with out-of-state, online universities.The RoleThe Senior Business Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization and our partner institutions. This position is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to provide actionable insights that enhance academic programs, improve student success outcomes, and support institutional growth. The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams, including client services, student services, operations, and external partners, to ensure data is leveraged effectively for continuous improvement, strategic planning, and compliance with reporting requirements. The role involves developing and maintaining dashboards, generating reports, and presenting data insights to a variety of stakeholders.The Senior Business Analyst will also utilize predictive analytics to identify trends and patterns that can drive initiatives aimed at enhancing student, faculty, and staff experiences. By applying advanced data analysis techniques and data visualization tools, the Senior Business Analyst will ensure that decision-makers across the organization and partner institutions have access to the data intelligence needed to achieve strategic objectives and operational excellence. This position reports to the Director of Business Analytics.
Responsibilities Include:
Collect, analyze, and interpret data from institutional sources to identify potential areas for improvement, trends in student outcomes, and opportunities to enhance academic programs, student services, and institutional effectiveness.Support various departments and academic units by developing analytics related to student success, program quality, faculty performance, resource allocation, and overall satisfaction metrics. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, reporting requirements for accreditation, and strategic project planning.Collaborate across functional areas to provide actionable data insights that support the growth and development of academic programs, student services, and institutional performance, helping drive informed decision-making.Leverage predictive analytics to support initiatives aimed at improving the student experience, enhancing faculty performance, and optimizing administrative processes, with the goal of boosting retention, engagement, and overall institutional success.Utilize data analysis tools to uncover valuable trends and patterns within marketing, enrollment, student success, financial aid, and institutional performance data, helping guide key academic and administrative strategies.Serve as a resource for external and internal partners, to provide expertise in data analysis, data mining, metric development, and the effective use of data visualization tools. Assist internal teams with questions related to institutional data and analytics to support continuous improvement efforts.Work in a cross-functional environment to provide actionable data intelligence that will support the growth and development of our programs and institutions.Utilize tools to analyze data sets, with a focus on valuable trends and patterns.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, data science, or related field, or an equivalent working experience.Three to five years of previous analytics and/or quantitative work experience, with strong preference for higher education experience.Data analytics and reporting experience required.Experience with Quicksight, Tableau, or similar data visualization and reporting tools required.Advanced skills in Microsoft products including Excel required; experience analyzing large data sets and creating dashboards.Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to present complex information effectively with a wide range audience.Ability to prioritize multiple projects and assignments; work independently as well as in a team environment; and deal effectively with complex assignments and projects essential.
