Description
CLASS SUMMARY:This position is fully responsible for the project billing process, processing of payments to sub-contractors and vendors, verifying employee's chargeable time; and assisting the Project Managers in the overall Project Accounting and Reporting process.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)1. Communicate with Project Managers (PM) and Principals-in-Charge (PIC), regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billings.2. Set up new projects, make transfers of employee billable hours and/or expenses, and open and close time classes in company system. Ensure that payroll charges are accurate and properly accounted for to specific projects.3. Ensure that progress billings, including final billings to project owners and/or customers are submitted timely with all the supporting and required documentations.4. Ensure that sub-contractor, vendors and service providers billings are processed and paid on timely basis.5. Communicates with project team, vendors, subcontractors and external parties to manage job cost requests and requirements, including waivers of lien, insurance and any additional contractually required documents necessary to invoice clients or pay vendors.6. Producing monthly cost reports for projects and assisting Project Managers with the production of monthly earnings; including reporting on project variances of actuals vs budgets, and updating forecasts.
7. Monitors collections and projects cash flow.8. Provide year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconcilement.9. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of technical or accounting related experience, plus 3-5 years experience of construction accounting.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):•Valid Wisconsin Driver License
KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):•Strong analytical, interpretation skills and attention to detail.•Possess a working knowledge of construction field operations and the disciplines required to be part of a construction project team.•Knowledge of Construction Management Software and financial software.•Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
SKILLS (position requirements at entry):•Using computers and related software;•The ability to: process verbal information; understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents; and communicate with others to convey information effectively.•The ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions.•The ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes.•The ability to frequently meet deadlines with attention to detail and to complete tasks and required documentation in a timely manner.•Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
