Job Summary: The Manager, Strategic Sourcing will manage specific spend Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO) categories and Value Analysis Teams (VAT) initiatives and projects. This role will develop cost-reduction opportunities and ensure optimal vendor value by monitoring performance and quality products for all projects and activities associated with their respective VAT.
Minimum Education: Minimum 5 years of related experience. Experience within a healthcare environment, preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified Sourcing Professional (CSP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience. Experience within a healthcare environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of contract lifecycle management, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing agreements in accordance with established contracting policies and procedures. Enhanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applicable software. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to maintain strong business relationships. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and leverage data insights to make strategic decisions that positively impact the health system. Strong negotiation and contract management knowledge, with proven supplier relationship management skills. Ability to collaborate with colleagues of all levels and build cross-functional relationships. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Implements strategic sourcing strategies to lower costs, achieve benchmark pricing, and contribute to generating savings. Provides guidance and support to the VAT and VAT Manager on priority items and overall sourcing plans and initiatives. Leads contract negotiation for both local and national purchasing agreements. Manages and maintains strong end-user and vendor relationships that include GPO and distribution partners. Continuously researches alternative supplier options to ensure supply chain resiliency is maintained. Evaluates operational conditions and processes to ensure any special terms or provisions applicable to the Strategic Sourcing Award Strategy are covered during negotiations. Maintains measurable and quantifiable performance metrics for all contracting activities in their managed categories. Ensures all suppliers meet service benchmarks and performs periodic evaluations of suppliers. Collaborates and works closely with legal teams to resolve and prevent any contractual concerns.
Decision Making: Independent judgement in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Working Relationships: Direct supervision of others. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level and above.
