We are seeking a full-time
Sr. Human Resources Generalist . This position will transform and elevate our team member experience by strategically engineering and refining people programs and controls as we scale. This position requires a great deal of independent thought and initiative.
This is a hybridposition with sharing weekly office time between our HQ in Oakland, CA, and working remotely. Occasional travel may be required to our various veterinary hospital locations in Northern California.
We are seeking a dedicated, approachable, knowledgeable and helpful subject matter expert and guide with a passion for impactful, user friendly, compliant and scalable people programs/processes.
Key responsibilities include:Employee Relations: Act as the primary contact for employee concerns, conflict, and grievances; conduct thorough investigations and offer fair resolutions in compliance with labor laws.Compliance: Ensure company policies and procedures align with California employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws, worker's compensation, FMLA/CFRA, ADA, and OSHA.Facilitate communication about and training associated with employment-related compliance obligations (e.g., anti-harassment).Collaborate with internal and external partners to refine and administer all people-related programs such as employee relations, compliance, policy management, LOA management, performance management, employee development plans, and coaching to drive engagement and productivity.Collaborate with internal and external partners to establish, administer, and refine team member lifecycle programs from new hire pre-boarding & orientation through offboarding.Oversee employment record keeping, posting, and retention systems and fulfill compliance reporting and related obligations.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to audit, administer, and refine all payroll and benefits-related programs.Propose and execute new procedures and policies to continually improve the efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole and to improve the employees' experienceProvide a high level of internal customer relations, ensuring timely, accurate and helpful responses are provided to all inquiries.Experience, qualifications & competencies:
San Francisco Bay Area resident with the ability to occasionally visit locations within the community as needed.5+ years of California based Human Resources generalist level experience. Multi location experience is a plus.2-3+ in a Sr. HR Generalist role or equivalentExpert level knowledge and practical experience with Federal and California specific wage & hour, LOA & accommodations and all other employment policies.Must be technologically literate, savvy and curious with expert level experience across multiple HRIS systems. Experience with Google Workspace is a plus.Must be comfortable and able to produce results while navigating ambiguity.Must possess professional-level discretion, tact, and confidentiality.Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and thoughtfully with a client service focus.Must be comfortable and effective in working autonomously.Job Type:
